One of the main cultural centers of the city of Chernihiv Regional Philharmonic Society is located on Prospekt Mira, 15, not far from Red Square. Philharmonic was founded in 1944 and housed in the former monastery Eletski. Initially, in its structure there were twelve people, in addition, there were freelance artists and employees.

Since 1964, regional philharmonic society found its permanent location in the former home of the diocesan Nicholas Society, built in 1912 and has an excellent concert hall for 612 seats. Today the building is an architectural monument. The overall complex of buildings includes a chapel, erected in 1870 in honor of Alexander Nevsky.

Earlier, in 1919-1920. This building housed the political department of the provincial and military-political course for the Red Army commanders. From 1932 to 1941 - Regional Musical Drama Theatre, which was destroyed in the summer of 1941 during the bombing. After the war, the building was restored, over the former chapel built on the third floor. The house is an example of the architecture of non-Slavic style, popular at the junction of Article 19-20.

In 2000, the Chernihiv Regional Philharmonic Society was reorganized into the Regional Philharmonic Center festivals and concert programs. The main purpose of its creation was the revival of Ukrainian national culture, popularization of Ukrainian and foreign musical art, promotion of the best of folk, brass, symphonic, instrumental, choral, vocal and other musical genres.

Currently, regional philharmonic society can be proud of their teams: Academic Symphony Orchestra "Philharmonia" Academic Song and Dance Ensemble "Siverskoye kleinods" Academic Chamber Choir named after D. Bortniansky, a brass band, Chernigov folk choir and concert performer.
