The foundation of the church belongs to the V century. The modern form of the church has got to the XII century.

The exterior is unremarkable quadrangular building with no steeple. In this architecture, the basilica, with one central nave, but over the side naves are galleries. Above the grotto chapel of the Holy Family in the altar of the towering white dome.

Going down the stone steps at the altar before you could get to the holy grotto. However, now it is impossible. Although the 2000 anniversary of the Nativity grotto was restored, but it may go down only the priests.
