Youth Theatre staff called "Zodiac" was founded in 1985 when the town's House of Culture "Ammophos". The basis for the creation of a young team became the theatrical studio, which was formed in 1983 at the music school named after IE Filimonova in Cherepovets. The theatrical work of the team is built according to the principle studio theater, when actors get the most diversified training, for example, stage speech, acting, plastic, singing, dancing.

During his years of theater "Zodiac" proved himself as an original and distinctive staff, residing in active creative search .  Literally every job "sign" can be called a kind of experiment, which is connected to and synthesized mime, drama, words, music, dance, vocals .  For this reason, in 1988 the youth theater has received the title of "national" .  During his career the theater staged "Alternative" - ​​posing with poetry, "Danish ballad" - a play based on Danish medieval epic "Oriental Mystery" - performed in the tradition of eastern culture, "Sacrament" - setting based on the Scandinavian epos "Genesis" - action, synthesizing word pantomime and vocals, and raises relevant philosophical topics .  Due to the fact that all the actors of the theater "Zodiac" have quite a wide range of emotional and expressive means they are much fruitful work on the small stage forms or concert performances with the active use of stage movement, dance and plastic .  For all of their continued existence was a slow emergence and creative development as well as the transition from the theatrical form of plastic in the form of theater and drama theater .

At this point in the theatrical repertoire of "signs" are the performances: "The Adventures of Pinocchio" by Tolstoy's tale A . "The Frog Princess" on the story Sokolova D . "Bunny-Zaznayka" based on Mikhalkov . "Jack Frost", "All sorts of tricks" of Chekhov's vaudeville A . P .  and many others .  Actors Theatre of Drama and plastic "sign" fruitfully participate in all shows and performances GDK "Ammophos" .  In the 1994-1995 season, the theater has staged the stories Shergina B .  "Tales of Shishe Moscow" in the style of farcical representation .  The following year was made a solo performance "Isadora" and the tragic fate of a truly beautiful famous dancer Isadora Duncan .  Staging distinguished gentle but precise insight into the spiritual experiences of the female soul, her current research, built on the most autobiographical records and Isadora monodrama Saganova W .  Literally every theater work of the youth team is doing so obvious professional, career and creative development of the "sign" that every year more and more improving her acting skills . 

The theater has a wide concert activity. He performs at various concert venues: the courtyards, streets, city squares, parks, culture and recreation, as well as Palace of Sports, hostels, recreation centers and military units. The creative team is taking part in public events of the city, such as the City Day, the day the streets, day area, spending the winter, Youth Day, New Year's Day and many others. In addition, the "sign" and participated in theater festivals in Moscow, Vologda, Chelyabinsk.

In 1994, the theater was made with great success on the international theater festival of professional theaters under the title "From classic to modern," in the Russian capital, where he presented on display their concert program "Mime hits." It is this work was extremely high marks of the jury. Youth Theater "sign" was the best All-Union festival dedicated to pantomime in the city of Chelyabinsk in 1989, as well as theater festivals in the city of Vologda. On each of the festival was marked by the high professionalism of the actors and the quality level of all the productions.

In 2000 the theater celebrated the 15th anniversary of his work, during which it was achieved real skill and acquired a unique collection of creative productions.
