Dobris Castle, located in the small town of the same name, 30 km from Prague, is famous not only for its historical interiors, as the fact that within its walls in its time been visited by many famous writers and poets. The fact that after the Second World War, the castle was turned into Dobris Holiday House, which belonged to the Czech Writers' Union. Therefore, there were marked not only all the famous Czech masters of artistic expression, lived in the XX century, but also many Soviet writers, such as Ilya Ehrenburg, B. Field, and so on. Come here and writers from friendly countries, including J. Amado.
A place to relax writers were selected miraculous. Luxurious Palace, once the former royal, but to the XVII century was abandoned and dilapidated, in 1630 acquired the Count Bruno Mansfeld. The new owner completely rebuilt the castle, giving it habitable and fit for a life of luxury, but a few decades later renovated the castle was damaged by fire. Mansfeld solved the problem radically and strengthened the walls of his estate with iron structures. The castle was rebuilt in the Rococo style, that way we see it now.
The castle is surrounded by French garden, laid out in 1750, and an English park, which was created later.
Now the castle is a museum, which exhibits a collection of furniture, clocks and motorcycles. You can also explore some of the preserved interiors. Castle owns Colloredo-Mansfeld family, who returned their property in 1989.
