Freesia - Austrian commune, located in the federal state of Carinthia, is part of the district Villach. Local lands were inhabited as early as 590 AD the Slavs. In the 12th century the first church was built in Frezahe. The city was almost completely destroyed by the Turks in 1478. In 1518 all the surrounding territory Frese moved into the possession of the Habsburgs. In the early 16th century most of the population was Protestant. Even after the Counter-Reformation, many people have remained true to their faith. After the decree of Emperor Joseph II of Toleration in 1782, during Frezahe again it opened the Protestant parish, and in 1787 the first school was built.

Freesia is a climatic resort, tourism plays an important role in the city's economy, providing the population with jobs.

The main attractions of interest to tourists include the Catholic church of St Blasius, built in 1565, and the Diocesan Museum, which in 2011 moved to a new building.
