Wai is among the three most important habitat areas with high humidity lodged in her water birds from the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. Thanks to the initiative ornithologists come here regularly to 260 species of birds, depending on the time of year. It is worth noting that 9 out of 260 species were in the Red Book and are found within many rare species of birds in Bulgaria.

Few places in Bulgaria can be seen in the same area nesting colony of small white and yellow herons with Heron. In winter the lake inhabited by cormorants, and small curly pelicans, bright and unusual red-breasted goose. Lake Burgas also attracts migratory birds.
