Lake Burgas - Bulgaria's largest natural reservoir with an area of ​​3000 hectares. Is a lake in the central part of Burgas, the two banks occupy residential areas - Dolno Ezerovo and Mining. Often you can find another name for the lake - Wai. Since 1997, the area Wai declared a protected area.

Lake Burgas inherently - Estuary, which became a coastal lake. As befits the estuary, it is salty because of the small channel connecting it with the sea. Fresh salt water flows into the lake on a regular basis that attracts salt-loving fish pond.

Also from the west lake fed by rivers Aytos, Chukarska and Syndyrdere. From the sea of ​​sand separated the lake, where there is the industrial area of ​​Burgas.

Wai is among the three most important habitat areas with high humidity lodged in her water birds from the Bulgarian Black Sea coast. Thanks to the initiative ornithologists come here regularly to 260 species of birds, depending on the time of year. It is worth noting that 9 out of 260 species were in the Red Book and are found within many rare species of birds in Bulgaria.

Few places in Bulgaria can be seen in the same area nesting colony of small white and yellow herons with Heron. In winter the lake inhabited by cormorants, and small curly pelicans, bright and unusual red-breasted goose. Lake Burgas also attracts migratory birds.
