Brest Fortress Defense Museum opened November 8, 1956. It is located on the central island Citadel Engineering barracks - the only surviving part of the north-eastern bypass Citadel.

The museum was built as a monument to military glory and means of Soviet propaganda. In the USSR, visiting the museum of Brest Fortress was considered mandatory for official foreign delegations.

Decorated in red and black tones, illuminated displays produce a very strong impression on visitors. Here real historical finds of objects of the war side by side with mannequins in military uniforms, objects of everyday life and a peaceful pre-war posters during the war. All materials are arranged, so that a sense of presence. It seems that the bombs hanging on the ceiling of the hall, falling from the sky on the heads of visitors, and guitar, left on a chair, sounded a minute ago.

June 21, 1961 the first meeting of the defenders of the Brest Fortress, dedicated to the 20th anniversary of the attacks of the fascist army in the Brest Fortress. In this occasion it was increased area of ​​exposure to 2, 5 times. It was 1000 square meters.

The museum exhibition to date is a 10 rooms. On the basis of the collection, was formed more than 50 years, the museum opened an exhibition of cold arms and light weapons XVIII-XX centuries.

Used for temporary exhibitions rooms on the first and second floors. They placed special exhibitions to various memorials and exhibition of weapons on display.
