The first professional theater was established in Brest in August 1940. He called the Brest regional Russian drama theater, however, was interrupted by the war began so brilliantly theatrical season.

Immediately after the liberation of Brest from the Nazi invaders, in October 1944 it was decided to establish the National Youth Theatre of Russian Drama named after Lenin Komsomol of Belarus in Brest. In the difficult postwar years, all having a hard time. The building was destroyed Brest theater, actors lived in a small one-story house, located near the ruined theater. The auditorium was equipped with wooden benches and can accommodate only 150 people. Artists, together with the residents of Brest, restored building of the theater. In 1949, there was an association Brest and Mogilev theater. They were invited young artists from other theaters. This complicated assembly united team director and artistic director Yuri determination. The post-war repertoire turned to heroic military drama. At the theater staged performances of "The Young Guard" Fadeeva, "How the Steel Was Tempered" Ostrovsky, "Constantine Barrier" A. Movzona. The symbol of the young theater was the play "Brest Fortress" on the play by Konstantin Gubarevich.

In the sixties, the theater has come a lot of interesting innovative directors and actors, including from 1964 to 1968 worked as a puppet theater here, which later became an independent organization.

In 1989 it started reconstruction of the building of the theater, which lasted 7 years. In 1995, the opening ceremony, which was given after the performance of "The Marriage of Figaro." At the same time the theater has joined Symphony Orchestra, and the theater was named Brest Drama and Music Theatre.

Since 1996, the theater hosts the international theater festival "White Tower", which is attended by theater groups from more than 20 countries.
