Boundary post between the land Brest and the Brest Fortress was established in 1836. It is the only remaining pillar of the many pillars that marked the border between Brest and Brest fortress.

Brest - one of the oldest cities in Belarus. Its existence shows "Tale of Bygone Years", dated 1019 year. During the times of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania town located in a strategically favorable position at the confluence of the river Mukhavets in the Western Bug.

After the War of 1812, the Russian Empire decided to strengthen its western border and to build several fortifications and castles. One of the plans to build a fortress in the ancient city of Brest.

Since the fortifications were to be built on the site of urban areas, it was decided to transfer to the city of Brest, 3 km upstream Mukhavets. To do this, the old town was almost completely demolished (except for a few church buildings), and the new city, called Brest-Litovsk was rebuilt on a new site.

Built in 1833-1842 years Brest Fortress was totally a military town and not subordinate to the municipal authorities, as well as the Brest-Litovsk had little to do with the Brest fortress. For the separation of land and were built HOAR bars.

Boundary post built of brick. It is located at the crossroads of modern streets of Lenin and Gogol. On the column there is a marble plaque with a commemorative inscription: "..., This border post between the land served the city and the fortress from 1836 till 1915"
