Archaeological Museum "Berestye" opened March 2, 1982 and is a branch of the Brest Regional Museum. This is a unique museum, having no analogues in the world. Visitors can go directly to the excavation site on which built the roof and walls to protect from the weather. Excavations Berestye carried out in 1962 by archaeologists under the direction of FP Lysenko. Now for the review open a fragment of the ancient citadel of Eastern Slavic settlement XI-XIII centuries. It is located on the territory of Volyn Berestye strengthen the Brest Fortress (an island in the hospital).
The total area of the museum is 2400 square meters and is divided into 14 rooms. The main exhibition - the excavation is located at a depth of 4 meters and has an area of 1,000 square meters.
