Music Birobidzhan Jewish theater - is one of the cultural places of recreation, not only locals but also tourists. The theater has an interesting history. In March 1977 the Council of Ministers of the RSFSR, it was decided to set up in the city of Birobidzhan Chamber Music Theatre. A team led by Honored Artist of the RSFSR, composer Yu Schörling, who in a very short time, was able to create a unique troupe. From the first days of his theater its different performing style that was characterized by fusion of traditional and modern. Rehearsal theater and his entire troupe was originally housed in Moscow.

In November 1977 the theater opened its theatrical season in the city of Birobidzhan. The first performance was the opera-mystery called "Black Bridle for a white mare," which brought the theater triumphant success. All subsequent premieres of theater staged the scene Regional Philharmonic.

Theatre toured not only the country but also abroad. The first tour abroad took place in Germany. In addition, the theater toured in Bulgaria, Canada, the US, Chisinau, Moscow, Yaroslavl, Hungary, Vladivostok, Sverdlovsk, and so on. Critics around the world praised the musical culture, vocational training and choreographic theater artists. On the jubilee celebrations dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Jewish Autonomous Region, the first to show the audience the theater-opera song "Golden Wedding" Gluz M. and J. Sherling, which enjoyed huge success with the audience.

In February 1995, the Legislative Assembly of the Jewish Autonomous Region, it was decided to close the theater, explaining that in the regional budget has no funds for its maintenance.

In 2003, the Birobidzhan Jewish theater again revived. For 6 years he led a talented director V. Zemlyansky. Jewish Music and Drama Theatre "Kohelet" staged a number of performances, among them the "Metamorphosis", "Freylehs", "The Marriage of Figaro", "Ivanov and Rabinovich Ai or go the Haifa", "The Threepenny Opera" and many more. Works V. Zemlyansky and the team brought great success to the theater. Currently, the theater manages student V. Zemlyansky - S. Kornilevsky that as well as his teacher, full of interesting creative ideas.
