Library and Pinacoteca Dzelantea already attracted the attention of its name, like the name of a mythical muse. That's right - Dzelantea - called extensive library and an art gallery in Acireale, one of the cultural attractions of the city. The monumental building in which they are located, is located in Via Sandzhuliano. It was built in the 19th century by the engineer Mariano Panebyanko, one of the greatest minds of his time in the history of Sicily.

However, the history of the library goes back even further and goes back to the 1716-th year. Today it is considered one of the richest libraries in southern Italy - here contains over 250,000 volumes of books, as well as numerous manuscripts, pamphlets, magazines and documents.

Home Art Gallery, in turn, was initiated in 1851. The initiator of its creation was Paolo Leonardo Pennizi donated to the Academy of Fine Arts its collection of paintings, sketches and sculptures. Later he followed the example Pennizi Paolo Leonardo II, who also donated a number of works of art. Today it contains numerous works with unquestionable historical and artistic value, and dating from the second half of the 16th century - the first half of the 20th century. Among the artists can distinguish Giacinto Platania, who is considered the father of the local school of painting, Matteo Ragonisa, Pietro Paolo Vasta, Emanuele Grasso, Sarah back and others. There is also a work of world-renowned masters - Durer, Morelli, Van Dyck.

Also noteworthy is the section of the sculptures, particularly a composition depicting a shepherdess Achi and in love with the nymph Galatea him - the heroes of the myth of the founding of Acireale. This composition was made in 1846, the year for the exhibition in Palermo.
