New Synagogue is located in Berlin's Mitte district, and is considered the main synagogue of the Jewish community of the capital. It was built in the period from 1859 to 1866. And then became one of the city's major landmarks of the XIX century.

This magnificent structure is made in the Moorish style and is very reminiscent of the Alhambra. The project worked synagogue Eduard Knoblauch, but to finish building it was not possible due to a serious illness, so the case was the successor Friedrich August Shtyuler. The facade is different colored bricks, it is very richly decorated in the Eastern tradition. Colored blocks, unusual and even slightly whimsical ornaments adorn a new synagogue. Despite the fact that it is considered a little "sandwiched" between the structures built earlier, it looks very lush and harmonious.

On the wings of the buildings are two small domes, resembling tents, among them - a luxury central dome with gold piping. At the entrance to the synagogue visitors first come into the front room, and then - in the main, for up to 3,000 people. This building was built with the increasing population of Jews in Berlin, many of whom were immigrants who came from the East. There were not only worship, but also some public concerts. For example, in 1930 a new synagogue was performed Violin Concerto, which was attended by Albert Einstein.

During the war the building was completely destroyed, fortunately numerous believers that a creed of the Jews rebuilt with all the features of the first building, but with some additions decor. At present, a truly magnificent and majestic New Synagogue continues its operation, as well as attracts with its beautiful view of a large number of tourists.
