Church of St. Martin (Martinskirche) - a Protestant church in the city of Basel. It towers over many buildings the old town, often called Big Basel. The first documentary evidence of it date back to the years 1101-1103. The church stands in the northern part of the hill not far from the cathedral and considered the oldest parish church of Basel.

The first church was built here in the X century. Some parts of the tower and west facade preserved since their creation in 1287. An earthquake in 1356 has not spared and this church, because at that time was destroyed most of the city, and Martinskirche almost completely rebuilt, but its foundation remains the same. Then it was added to the bell tower with four bells. Polygon choir, as well as the north and south facades dating back to the second half of the 14th century. There preached Johann Ekolampady reformer of Basel. During the Reformation, the set of murals and frescoes were covered with plaster.

In 1851 the church was subjected to the planned restructuring. This much was rebuilt facade, built in the interior of the first concert stage. Even before that, the church was used as a concert hall. Then murals were restored, because the plaster was gently repulsed. For heating in 1892, it was built in the basement of the choir.
