Bangkok Planetarium is the oldest in all of Thailand. It is on the basis of scientific and educational center under the auspices of the Department of Non-Formal Education of the Ministry of Education.
The construction of the planetarium started in 1962 with a budget of 12 million baht, already August 18, 1964 it was opened. The dome of the planetarium is 20, 6 meters in diameter and 13 meters high and has 450 seats. Planetarium projector uses a brand Mark IV Zeiss, which was also used for the largest planetarium in South-East Asia.
In addition to the main room, Bangkok Planetarium includes an exhibition hall, designed for a young audience. There are thematic meetings about the history of space exploration "Astronomy for centuries" and on "The Life of a Star" and "The Solar System". Planetarium offers 4 daily entertainment programs for children and adults. Each of them consists of two parts: the show stars in the telescope, as well as a slide show lecture, the subject of which changes monthly. Separate meetings are held with students in the educational program.
Together with the Planetarium Science Museum there, place their collection of artifacts on six floors. It traces the history of mankind in terms of technology and innovation.
