Alley of Martyrs, located in the capital of Azerbaijan - Baku city, on the territory of Nagorno-Park - a mass grave in which are buried shahids, the heroes who fought for the independence of the country, the victims of the terrible tragedy of Black January and died in the battles for Karabakh. Also at the Alley of Martyrs can see the unmarked grave where buried body parts unidentified killed.

Earlier, on the site of the Mall was a Muslim cemetery, where the dead were buried in 1918 in Baku during the March events people. In 1920 he came to power, the Bolsheviks decided to destroy the cemetery. They cleaned out the buried human body, and have created this park, which was named after Kirov.

After the terrible events that occurred on the night of 19 on January 20, 1990, the bodies of all the killed people (about 150 people) were transferred to the established "Nagorno-Park" and was buried with full honors. January 22 there were still 51 people buried. Three of them were victims of the events of March 1918, their bodies were found in the park during the digging of graves. On these three graves there is an inscription that says: "Shahida 1918"

On the Alley of Martyrs in Baku on January 20 every year from all corners of the Azerbaijani people come to honor the memory of heroes. That same day, at exactly 12-00 suspend their activities all the companies on the territory of the country, as well as transport. At this time, everywhere I heard long beeps ships and cars. In the morning on January 20 of each year throughout the country in mourning lower a little national flags.
