Contemporary Art Museum Frieder Burda opened on Lichtentaler Allee in 2004. The museum presents a variety of exhibits: more than 800 paintings, sculptures and other works of art history over the last century.

The main direction of the collection - the classical modernism, so are the works of Max Beckmann, Ernst August Macke and Kircher. The museum also exhibits works by artists whose names are better known to the general public: Picasso, Rothko, John. Pollock, Cl. Steele, G. Richter.

The enthusiasm of the collector Frieder Burda, as demonstrated over 40 years ago, helped to create a collection, and then the opening of the museum. On the creation of the unique design of the building work of the New York architect Richard Mayr. Considerable effort has been expended on it to fit harmoniously unusual museum building into the surrounding landscape and align the scale with the neighboring exhibition hall in classic style. As a result, between the buildings for the convenience of visitors, there was a clear transition from indoor heating, and in the construction managed to keep the trees.
