In the historic old-Piazza (now - the October Revolution), where once there were festivities, there were rides and six towered churches, the Church of Our Lady of Kazan with the Chapel Paraskeva. The temple complex of buildings several centuries was the hallmark of the city Alatyr.

Kazan church was built by the parishioners in 1779 on the site of the burnt wooden church. The bell tower was built in 1890 at the expense of the merchant Alatyrsky K.N.Popova. To the left of the church at the expense of the merchant, it was built two-storey house in 1887 and was presented to the church for the guardianship of a parochial school. At the same time near the temple were added two chapels, which had not reached our time. The entire complex of buildings was designed in pseudo-Russian style. In 2012 the bell tower was equipped Temple Chapel of the Resurrection.

The architecture of a multi-tiered bell tower of the Kazan temple is unique - the height of the structure about forty six meters, the thickness of the walls of the first level exceeds 166 centimeters, and a rich decoration of was carried out through the use of varieties of ashlar brick (about 15 species). The individual elements of the decor masters covered with lime mortar, giving the appearance of white stone (for contrast, faced with a cap).

In 1925, the Bolsheviks had made an inventory of church property, which included the miraculous icons and relics, after which they were never seen again. In 1939, the church was overbuilt over two floors, and the building was used as a mill. The bell tower was adapted for educational skydiving, while serving as a fire tower. In 1958 the whole block was demolished for the construction of the historical area of ​​the plant "Electric appliance". Kazan Church saved from destruction by the recognition of the entire complex architectural monument of the year before the event. Until the early 1990s the building was at the plant and has been used for the needs of part-time, and then the plant's management has transferred the temple of the Orthodox Church. In August 2001 there was a fire bell tower, because of what has been lost tent canopy.

Today, the former symbol Alatyr - Kazan Church - a historical ruins. Who is collecting donations for the restoration of the complex, the rebirth of the Church. Since July 2012, the church committed service on Sundays and public holidays. Currently, the rector of Kazan Pyatnitskaya church is the Rev. Alexander Sheshukov.
