The fortress of Al-jah - this is one of the most important historic architectural landmarks of the UAE. It is located in Al Ain, and among the manicured green park.

This large castle was built in 1898 on the orders of Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. It was a powerful military fortification to protect the city and precious palm groves, as well as served as a refuge for local residents during the brutal inter-tribal "clashes." In addition, there was the residence of the local governor.

Since the structure is not very old, exterior walls and flat on its territory is perfectly preserved its historical appearance. The original castle had a somewhat different view. At the end of the XIX century. it consisted of two buildings: a round watchtower and a small square fort. Today, both of these facilities are open to the public. Inside the fortress Al Jahili you can see the Old Fort - a small square courtyard surrounded by six-meter walls.

The city walls are made of earth blocks, laid directly on the sand without foundation. Doors and windows of the fortress were made of a small amount of wood and the walls - from the local clay. Ceiling fortress Al Jahili was made of palm rafters. With regard to gender, they were made of tamped earth, with the addition of wax to increase the strength.

Today, al-jah - a historic architectural monument, located in the green lawns and exquisite palm trees.
