Mughal emperor Akbar the Great, who reigned in the period from 1556 to 1605 years old, is considered one of the most famous and revered Muslim rulers of India. Therefore, his tomb, though in general, and made a fairly restrained Spartan style, but it is particularly in the luxury details. Construction of the mausoleum of Akbar, according to tradition, began during his lifetime. A place to put the grave was chosen personally by the emperor. After the death of the ruler in 1605, his son Dzhaganhir continued construction, and it was completed only in 1613.

The tomb is located in the small village of Sikandra, a suburb of Agra and is a masterpiece of Islamic architecture .  It is a complex of two buildings, one of which is the mausoleum itself, and the other - the huge gates .  Connects them wide paved road .  Buland Darwaza Gate, or, as they are called, Gateway Grandeur, are the main entrance to the mausoleum .  They are decorated with white marble minarets, located on the four corners of the gate .  The mausoleum is made of the traditional buildings of the time red sandstone and fairly new finishing materials - marble, a four-sided pyramid .  It is divided into several tiers, the top is built from marble, it has four pointed towers .  And in the middle of the structure is an open courtyard in the center of which is placed a special "travel version of" imperial tomb, decorated with intricate ornaments and inscriptions .  While the true burial place of Akbar is located in the catacombs .  And the gate and the mausoleum lined with multicolored tiles, which develops in the beautiful and intricate patterns .

The area around the tomb there are many monkeys, which can be quite aggressive attitude, and even attack the tourists.
