St. Andrew's Cathedral in Zaporozhye city located on the street 8th of March. St. Andrew's Cathedral has long been the main attraction of the Shevchenko district, which is one of the largest areas of Zaporozhye. The church was named in honor of the Apostle Andrew.
History of St. Andrew's Cathedral began in September 1995. At this time with the blessing of His Eminence Basil, Archbishop of Zaporizhia and Melitopol, in the former movie theater Shevchenko, it was founded by St. Andrew's religious community of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
A few months later, in the largest room on the second floor it was located the church, which was named in the name of St. Seraphim of Sarov. Until 2000 the St. Andrew's religious community of Zaporozhye gathered in a converted cinema room Shevchenko.
In 2000, the theater was renovated Shevchenko and in its place was built the St. Andrew's Cathedral. The cathedral was built at the expense of the company "Motor Sich" and other patrons.
St. Andrew's Cathedral is decorated with a huge central dome and two smaller domes on either side. Nearby stands the high bell tower.
Today, the golden domes of the temple sparkle in the sun, low columns frame the facade of the cathedral and the upper tiers of the bell tower, and the classic style, softness, lightness and excellent parts murals create the impression of joyful contemplation of the temple.
