Among the interesting attractions belong ruins Kerkinitida Yevpatoriya. The eyes of man are available only small fragments of debris. One fragment is available in front of the fence of the sanatorium belonging to the Ministry of Defence, in a dead end section of the embankment Gorky. Another closed glass roof and is decorated in the form of a pyramid. His address is - next to the museum of local lore, Duvanovskaya street, next to the fence of the same resort. It is the base of the walls of some buildings of rectangular shape, probably warehouses.

Why they are at the fence of the sanatorium? The reason is simple: in the territory of the modern health resort was Kerkinitida. Most of the findings produced in this place. It is regrettable that major work on the excavation began when the resort was already erected. Naturally, all work stopped. When the excavation is completed, the wall goes back to sleep, so even in a sanatorium will not see much of anything. Founded exhibits transferred to the museum, and part is kept by the residents who helped during the excavations.

Greek settlers came to these places, founded the city. Ships with the colonists while Greece was sailing very much. They were looking for the unknown, new territories, suitable for life. It is believed that Kerkinitida - is the name of the head of one of these expeditions. Legend has it that Hercules was one of the first settlers. City Kerkinitida was independent, did a great trade and created his banknotes. Later, he became addicted to Chersonesos, but even so, the welfare of residents remained at a high level.

The idyll ended when came the Scythians. Mithridates VI, emperor of Pontus, Kerkinitida helped defeat the Scythians, but luck was short-lived. In previous level Kerkinitida could not climb, and raids of nomadic tribes soon stopped Greek history of these places.

In the fifteenth century there was another name for the city - Gezlev. On the Crimean dialect, which was used by the Tatars, it is pronounced as "Kezlev." This explains the fact that in the annals of the city called the word, sounding like a "goat". Convenient location has made the city one of the most important in the Crimean Khanate. Trade relations have developed. In the city there was a large port, serious defenses, sources of drinking pure water. There was a market of slaves, hotels for merchants and travelers. A huge share of the trade held the salt of the highest quality, produced here. She gave significant revenues to the city treasury. The city built good houses, baths, drinking establishments. When the city by decree of Catherine II annexed to Russia (1784), it was renamed in Yevpatoria ("grace" - translated from Greek).

Now inside the pyramid, you can see the remains of the western defensive wall Kirkinitida, accommodation, a round tower and the altar of plate pavement. Every year in the summer time inside the pyramid are organized various exhibitions of archaeological objects from the museum collection.
