ST. Alexander Nevsky was built in honor of the Russian Emperor Alexander II, who died at the hands of the People. In laying the first stone March 1, 1891, the day of the tenth anniversary of the death of the Emperor, Empress Maria Fedorovna took part. Consecration of the Cathedral took place on Dec. 4, 1902 in the presence of Emperor Nicholas II, his family and entourage.

Bunk, open galleries, Yalta Cathedral built in the old Russian style and decorated with numerous decorative elements: pilasters, kiottsami, portals, hearts, tent porch. Smart appearance gave him a white and pink tones. Near the cathedral was built three-tiered bell tower, 11 bells for which were cast in Moscow. The icons for the cathedral were painted by masters from Mstera in the Vladimir province.

The interior was designed by the architect SP Kroshechkinym, the iconostasis, the dome and the walls of the Kiev artist painted I.Murashko. Mosaic with the image of St. Prince on the outside of the temple was made disciples Venetian A.Salviati. Domes of the church were covered with gold.

In 1938 the church was closed, the bells sent to the facility. The council organized a sports club. In the postwar years, often in the big church holidays in the cathedral served as a saint Luke (VF-Voyno Yasenetsky), and the abbot, since the beginning of the 50s, he was appointed an associate and friend, archpriest Mikhail Semenyuk. Worship, renewed during the Great Patriotic War, has since been interrupted.
