Early church - a temple ruins, located right next to the Basilica of the Virgin Mary in Vrsar. Its unique feature lies in the fact that he retained the mosaic units IV century, which decorate the floor.

This church is the oldest Christian building in the territory of Istria. According to historical records, the early Christians, settled in this region in the period from II to III century, most likely made their services in various private buildings. Scientists suggest that the date of construction of the Basilica refers to the IV century, just at the time when Emperor Constantine proclaimed religious tolerance, covers the entire territory of the Roman Empire.

The first fragments of the church in 1935 found an Italian archaeologist Mario Mirabella Roberti. The building is typical of ancient Christian architecture, so originally it was a simple rectangular building, which in the VI century supplemented the apse. Church decorated with multicolored mosaic floors, which mostly portrayed Floral (basket with grapes, wreath, leaves) and animal (doves, peacocks, fish) motives. The central part of the floor account for 73 interconnected circle.

When these lands in the VII century the Slavs invaded, they almost completely destroyed the basilica. The preserved part was subsequently transformed into an olive mill. Today, the remaining parts of the building covers the land, so they are not easily accessible for inspection.
