Vileika History Museum is relatively young. It was founded on July 30, 1982. Originally, the museum was given the name "Vileika historical museum." The first museum exhibition was opened on May 7, 1985.
Despite its youth, the museum has collected a large collection of rare and unusual items. It demonstrates the collection of objects from archaeological excavations in the burial grounds: ancient flint knives Stone Age, women Slavic temple rings. Now the museum has a collection of more than 25 thousand exhibits.
The museum exposition reflects periods of the city's history from ancient times to the middle of the XX century and is divided into sections: "Time", "Sources", "Home", "School", "suffering", "Vileyka".
From 1 January 2005, the name changed to the museum. It is now called Vileika museum. The museum houses a very large ethnographic collection gathered in the section entitled "Vileika Shed." This area of traditional Belarusian hut, furnished with traditional furniture, hand-made, embroidered tablecloths and towels, ceramic tableware, wicker baskets and other interesting utensils.
The museum of folk art festivals, where locals and tourists can meet with crafts, traditional costumes, musical instruments, songs and dances. With the recent times here began to arrange the traditional Slavic Belarusian wedding. Such weddings are very popular, because it is local historians know all the national traditions and customs, including those relating to the wedding ceremony.
Since 2011, in the museum opened a souvenir shop where you can buy products of folk artists: pottery, towels, shirts, products of straw, wicker, beads and other nice tourist souvenirs.
