In the north-west of Spain in the province of Pontevedra, Galicia related to the community, there is a small port city of Vigo. This ancient city, which was founded by the ancient Romans. The whole history of Vigo is inextricably linked to the sea, navigation and fishing business. It is not surprising that here is one of the most interesting Spanish museums dedicated to the sea - Galician Maritime Museum. The museum was opened in 2002. The building, which houses the museum collections have been designed by the architect Aldo Rossi and César Portela.
Exposition is devoted mainly maritime history of Galicia and people with attitude. Among the permanent exhibitions the museum has a collection dedicated to the Galician fishing industry, shipbuilding in Vigo, naval battles, the case of the north-west coast of Spain, the history of the Galician fleet. Among other exhibits, the museum presents a large number of archival documents. The interior of the museum are equipped with the latest technology: the exhibits are original lighting, interactive displays and screens showing video documentaries, allow fully get the information. The building of the museum is adjacent aquarium, where visitors have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with different types of marine animals and fish found in local waters.
