Villa Poiana - aristocratic villa in the town of Poiana Maggiore in the province of Vicenza. It was designed by Andrea Palladio and today is part of the World Cultural Heritage "Palladian villas of Veneto."

The building was constructed in 1548-49-m respectively for Bonifacio Poiana, Poiana member of the family that for centuries owned land in the territory of Veneto. Boniface military background is reflected in the rigor and even some austerity of architecture and interior decoration. The work on the project was based on the Palladian villas, the ancient Roman baths, the structure of which he learned during his trip to Rome. On the ground floor you can see a huge room with barrel vaults. On both sides of a minor premises are located, each with its own type codes.

Villa Poiana is considered one of the most interesting examples of the work of Palladio, despite the fact that it has not been completed, and some later additions are very different from the original design by Palladio. From the same that was built with the direct participation of the great architect, is worth paying attention to serlianu - palladium windows on the facade and a pediment with statues of military and agricultural deities.

Above the villa interiors artists worked Bernardino Indiana, and Anselmo Kaner and decorator and sculptor Bartolomeo Ridolfi, the authorship of which belongs to all the fireplaces and stucco villa. In the atrium you can see the elegant stucco with intertwined floral motifs and monochrome images of river deities. Bust Bonifacio Poiana look down from the main entrance, and above it are the family coat of arms of the family and the spoils of war. Frescoes on the vaults of the villa with an allegorical representation of Fortune credited Giovanni Battista Dzelotti.
