Picturesque Greek town of Veria is famous for its rich cultural and historical heritage. Attractions of the city and its fascinating centuries-old history annually attract many tourists from different countries.

During the Byzantine era the city flourished and is an important commercial and cultural center. Most of the ancient temples, beautifully preserved in Berea to this day, were built by the Byzantines. Not surprisingly, one of the main attractions of the city Veria and is considered a magnificent Byzantine Museum, which opened its doors to visitors in 2002. It is located in the historic district in the old Kiriotissa three-storey building, built in the early 20th century, where once there was "a mill Marcos."

The exhibition of Byzantine Museum presents a huge number of interesting exhibits of Byzantine and post-Byzantine eras. Here you can see a great collection of portable icons (including bilateral), stunning frescoes, fragments of mosaic floors, ancient manuscripts, historical documents and important early printed books. Also of great interest are pottery, Byzantine coins, woodcuts, and more.

Today Veria Byzantine Museum - one of the best such museums in Greece. It was created in order to promote among the younger generation of the city's history, or rather it such an important milestone as the Byzantine era. In addition to the permanent exhibition titled "Veria - a part of the Byzantine Empire," the museum regularly hosts temporary exhibitions.
