Vienna House of Art was opened April 9, 1991 in Vienna. Old building Thonet furniture factory, which once produced the famous bentwood chairs, it was entirely rebuilt by Hundertwasser in two years. The museum is located in an area of ​​4,000 square meters. On the first two floors is a permanent exhibition of works by Hundertwasser, the other floors are given under the temporary exhibitions. Among the works of Hundertwasser presented as a significant collection of paintings and graphic arts, crafts, architectural designs and sketches.

The entire building is made in the typical style of Hundertwasser, with wavy lines and a noticeable lack of right angles. The interior uses bright colors and glass, giving the space the sunlight and a feeling of lightness. As in other projects at the museum planted a lot of live trees, shrubs and other vegetation, which gives not only the beauty and comfort, but also oxygenates. This house, which does not correspond to accepted standards and gives visitors a journey into the world of creative architecture.

The museum has spent more than 60 international exhibitions since its opening. Their implementation was made possible by a whole team of art historians, museum directors and curators around the world.

On the ground floor of the museum opened a shop where you can buy unique products, based on the original designs by Hundertwasser. Here you can buy rare art books, china, posters and various reproductions.

In 2009 the museum was visited by more than 174,000 people.

Just a few steps from the museum is the famous house, also built on sketches by Hundertwasser. This attraction is one of the most famous in Vienna, and the proximity to Vienna allows you to visit the home of arts together.
