In 2001, in Vienna, opened a huge contemporary art complex of the Museum Quarter, located in a renovated building of the royal stables. In 1980 the building underwent a thorough alteration led Lauridsen and Manfred Ortner.

Here are the Kunsthistorisches Museum, Leopold Museum, and Museum of Modern Art Ludwig Foundation. The Leopold Museum located collection of contemporary Austrian art. Here is some 5,000 paintings painting masters such as Egon Schiele, Gustav Klimt, Oskar Kokoschka, Ferdinand Waldmüller, Friedrich Gauerman. The collection was assembled over several decades, the Viennese Professor Rudolf Leopold.

Museum of Modern Art Ludwig Foundation is one of the largest galleries of modern art in central Europe, from American pop art and cubism to expressionism and "Viennese Actionism".
