The most famous Drama Theatre of Vienna was built in 1874, designed by Gottfried Semper and Karl von Hassenauera. The theater is located on the Boulevard Ring Vienna - Ringstrasse.
In 1945 the theater was bombed and the building was heavily damaged: the only thing that survived then - two magnificent grand staircase in the side wings of the building. The walls along the staircase is decorated with busts of the playwrights whose plays were staged in the theater. The ceilings are decorated with frescoes made by Klimt brothers and Franz match.
The facade of the theater is decorated with a frieze with figures of Bacchus and Ariadne, and the frieze above the statue of Apollo. The rich interior of the lobby is decorated with portraits of famous actors and actresses.
During the post-war restoration managed to preserve the original appearance of the auditorium, aged in gold, red and cream colors. It contains more than a thousand spectators.
