Belvedere Palace - the summer residence of Prince Eugene of Savoy, the field marshal who saved Vienna from the Turks. In 1725 the architect Lukas Hildebrandt finished the construction of the "little Versailles".
The ensemble includes two palaces: the Upper Belvedere and Lower Belvedere, connected by regular gardens, broken in the French style. Fountains, stairs, statues, vases, swimming pools - all create the impression of wealth and greatness. The magnificence of the interiors, executed in Baroque delights and suppresses.
Now the Upper Austrian Gallery Belvedere is located with an exhibition of art of XIX-XX centuries. There is exhibited the world's largest collection of works by Gustav Klimt. The Lower Belvedere is a museum of Baroque and medieval art museum. Special attention should be mirrored cabinet: it is richly decorated room in the Baroque style with a statue of Prince Eugene of Savoy work Balthazar Permozera.
