Not far from the town of Uglich, and is 8 km away, in the midst of densely overgrown forests is amazing beautiful Orthodox church, consecrated in the name of Archangel Michael.

From ancient times to the present time until we reached a legend tells that once upon a time an honest laymen from the adjacent village decided to build a temple near Yaroslavl road. On the way to achieve its goal of having difficulties: the structure, on which work began on the eve of the next morning were destroyed. After a couple of days, one of the builders of the temple was a vision in which he saw that a higher power is not favorable to arrange in the appointed place of the temple, and the temple is possible to build on the small island in the middle of the forest swamps. In this way, in the forest or "forest" was built first of its kind small church. Decades later, the church was built Archangel monastery, the exact time of occurrence of which is still not established; there is evidence that in the 15th century, he already had a place to be.

During the Time of Troubles in Russia the monastery was severely ravaged and plundered by Polish troops. Chronicles sources mention that during Holy Week in 1610 from the onslaught of invaders have been killed more than forty monks, headed by the abbot was Michael; killed more than four hundred peaceful villagers.

As soon as the Time of Troubles ended, the Archangel monastery was again gradually return to its core business. The monastery in the 17th century operated two temples: the first - the Nativity of the Virgin, and the second - in honor of the Archangel Michael. Existing buildings were built entirely of wood.

At the end of 1663, the monastery was assigned to the Resurrection Monastery in the town of Uglich as a non-independent - in this status it lasted almost until 1764. Around 1765 the two monastery churches were closed, after which the monastery turned into an ordinary parish church. At the end of 1787 on the site of the previously existing wooden buildings congregation decided to build a new church, but only made of stone, which to this day is a true adornment of spaces.

As for the architectural component of the Church of the Archangel Michael, then there is nothing particularly remarkable. It presented a two-story building and has five domes and dining room bathroom - this kind of a lot of churches not only in Uglich, but also in other Russian cities. The important fact is that the builders of that time were able to pick up the perfect place for the new church, completely correlating its appearance with the surrounding nature. Laying the church is surprisingly simple, and architectural details are striking in their plainness and expressiveness, which looks great on the background of forest glades, majestic pines and adjacent villages.

At the end of the 19th century near the temple it was built the bell tower, built of red brick. The new bell tower has become a unique addition to the temple as a necessary element of picturesque spots and bright, emphasizing simplicity and whiteness of the church.

Church of the Archangel Michael for all time of existence never closed, because of which it is almost completely preserved interior of the 19th century, despite the fact that he is not particularly remarkable, and quite simple.

After the revolution, they plundered the temple - it was then that the interior has become interesting from the point of view of the architectural part. The temple can be seen painted floors, stucco and rather late to do oil painting. The church has a triangular protrusion iconostasis and its form and shape is very similar to the iconostasis at the Church of Tsarevich Dimitri "in the blood." Preexisting interior of Vvedensky temple is almost completely lost, while today it is formed by modern icons and paintings.

Not far from the church is the Holy Archangel pond, which has a wonderfully clean and clear water.

The church has a church cemetery, the burial site is found, dating two centuries ago.
