Hotel Galiani is a historical monument in the city center at the intersection of Pushkin and Volodarsky. The hotel building is one of the most magnificent stone buildings of Tver, in the style of classicism. A two-storey volume with ravnovysokimi wings, which are connected with it transitions forms a spectacular façade composition, leaving the red line of one of the city's main streets. The brick walls of the building are plastered and facade decoration and wall socket are made of white stone.
The hotel was built Russified Italian Galiani Paul Dementevich acquired them in place of a wooden house in the late 18th and early 19th centuries. In 1803-1805 he was a stone-built house with a single-storey stone outbuilding adjacent to the building on the north side. Construction of two-storey wings, as well as their connection to the main building transitions, probably refers to the years 1814-1815. Both floors Galiani lease. Then Paul Dementevich arranged hotel here. However, the hotel was arranged tavern, restaurant and "room for amusement." By this time the house from the courtyard was surrounded by a gallery, on the eastern and northern borders of ownership were built barn, stables, cellar.
Hotel Galiani has long been considered the best in Tver. Here in 1826-1836 years not once stayed AS Pushkin, in 1826 the poet mentioned it in his poetic epistle to Sobolev jokingly. In 1859, here from August to December lived FM Dostoevsky after returning from military service in Semipalatinsk and finished the manuscript of "Villages Stepanchikovo," "Uncle's dream", "Notes from the House of the Dead." Many of the impressions he received in Tver, they were reflected in the novel "The Possessed."
After the death of Galiani manage the hotel became his widow - Charlotta Ivanovna. But in the early 1860s, the hotel was sold for the debts of a merchant Bobrov Ivan Dmitrievich, which changed the appearance of the building, combining house with outhouses, rastesany windows and removing the two columns in the portico. In the early 20th century as a result of the reconstruction of the building, along with farm buildings and outhouses has been included in a large body of U-shaped. Southern wooden outhouse was demolished.
Before the revolution, the house owned by the Tver branch of the St. Petersburg-Tula bank that entered here in the early 1890s, and then there was a private women's gymnasium, 1947 -pedagogicheskoe school, a music school and residential apartments, and since 1993 is located Tveruniversalbank who underwent reconstruction of the building and restored its original architectural forms. Restoration of the building was carried out by architect GP Lebedeva, based on the 1858 figure fixation. Southern wing was rebuilt, restored to their original locations passages and transitions. During the reconstruction of the courtyard with brick buildings recreated covered glass roof.
The composition of the main facade of the former hotel Galiani consists of the main volume, which has four-column portico at the second floor, transitions with travel gate, two-storey wings. Central Corner of which the bottom is cut by three deep arched windows and entrance, completed in the gable eaves with large Mutulu. Under the windows of the first floor and on panels jumpers are located above the windows of the second floor - shelves. Above the narrow crowning cornice is a loft that cut recumbent attic window. The decor is complemented by intercommunication white stone cornice and profiled belts. The walls of the northern transition were completely shifted, and the three-part semicircular window located above the posted travel again. Restored outbuildings decor does not quite match the drawing Fixation 1858.
In the basement under the western part of the building preserved Korobov vault. The rooms of the ground floor combined with the yard passing along the facade of the building by a corridor. On the second floor of the main building remained front suite, which consists of three rooms and a corridor that unites the room wings to the main building.
