Exhibition Hall of the All-Russian Historical and Ethnographic Museum is located on January 9 in the building of the former Trade series, is an architectural monument of the second half of the 19th century. In the exhibition hall presents three exhibitions: "History under your feet," "Walking through the old Torzhok", "Torzhok front-line."

The first exhibition is based on archaeological materials and introduces visitors to the history of the city, talks about various aspects of life in the Middle Ages of Torzhok. The visitors opened the reconstructed houses of the Neolithic, as well as a rare collection of birchbark documents, which according to the number after the city of Novgorod and Staraya Russa ranked third. Among the historical documents - thousandth of a diploma, certificate with a part of the work "Word of Wisdom" thinker Ancient Rus of the 12th century Cyril of Turov. Also of interest are the objects weapon 12-13 centuries, which remind us of the defense of Torzhok from the troops of Batu Khan in 1238. It presents and household items and Crafts Torzhok residents ages 12-14. Guests of the Exhibition Hall with a specially equipped stand can make their own excavations and determine the age of his finds.

The exhibition, entitled "Walking through the old Torzhok" tells about the customs, life, lessons Novotorov in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Start walking - from the station, and then it goes into the streets and squares of the city and ends at the main place of recreation for the citizens of Torzhok - a city boulevard. Along the way, visitors can browse through the shops or to visit the old inhabitants of Torzhok.

The third exhibition is dedicated to the Great Patriotic War. Since the beginning of the battle for Moscow, in October 1941, two years Torzhok became a front-line city. It was almost completely destroyed by the systematic bombing of the enemy. Residents of Torzhok managed to survive all the most complex and dramatic events that took place during the war: bombing, general mobilization, backbreaking work in the rear, the construction of fortifications. Visitors can see the reconstructed office of the chief military office of the city, unique films and photographs showing the face of the city after heavy bombing by German aircraft. The central place is given to the Hall of Military Glory, dedicated to the victory and to the inhabitants of Torzhok, who passed difficult road of war.

In the same building is a hall for temporary exhibitions of the various thematic focus.
