Photo: The White Tower
White Tower on the waterfront - the most famous landmark of the city. In 1430, the Turks built three such towers to strengthen the 8-kilometer city wall. Since the XVIII century, it housed the guardroom and prison. After liberation from the Turks whitewashed tower as a sign of cleansing from the past - hence the name of the tower. Now I whitewashing already washed away and the tower looks as well as in the Middle Ages.
Now there is an exhibition of the museum of art and history of the city. Pay attention to some remarkable icons and frescoes. From the roof of the tower offers spectacular views of the city and the bay.
