A small Greek island of Patmos is located in the southeastern part of the Aegean Sea, and is part of the archipelago of Southern Sporades (Dodecanese). The island is impressive for its beautiful landscapes and wildlife. There is no doubt of great interest is the historical and cultural heritage of Patmos.

A few kilometers from the main port of the island of the Rock is the capital of Patmos - Chora. The city dates back to the 12th century. Hora was built on the slopes of the picturesque hill, which is crowned by the magnificent Monastery of St. John the Divine. Traditional architecture, the maze of narrow streets lined with arched ceilings, white chapel and entwined with flowers courtyards create the unique atmosphere of the beautiful medieval city. Peak flowering of choirs came in 16-18 century. The city preserved the beautiful old mansions, showing the consistency of the citizens of that era choirs. Today in Chora many excellent restaurants, taverns and cafes where you can sample the excellent Greek cuisine. There in the city and a good selection of hotels and comfortable apartments.

Monastery of St. John the Evangelist is one of the main attractions not only choirs, but the whole island of Patmos. The monastery was founded in the late 11th century, with the permission of the Byzantine Emperor Alexius Comnenus and impressive outside its massive battlements. This grand building is considered the most powerful fortifications on the islands of the Aegean Sea. Near the monastery is the famous Cave of the Apocalypse, where John the Evangelist wrote his "Revelation" are also known as "Apocalypse". Also of great interest are such sights as the Monastery of the Annunciation, the Church of St. Phocas and St. Catherine and the house-museum «Patmian».
