Approximately 11 km from the eponymous capital of the island of Thassos, on the slopes of its highest mountain Ipsario (1203 m) is a small mountain village Potamia. This traditional Greek village is located in a wonderfully scenic location. Potamu residents are mainly engaged in agriculture, and employment in the tourism sector.

You should definitely visit the main attractions potamu - Vagis museum dedicated to native Thasos Greek-American sculptor Polignotosu Vagis (this is very famous in the United States sculptor, whose works are represented in several American museums). Here assembled a magnificent collection of works of art of the twentieth century.

One road leads from potamu up in the mountains, offering on its way truly magnificent landscapes. Lovers of long walks can climb the Ipsario, from the top of which offers stunning panoramic views of the island and the boundless sea.

On the coast, just 3 km from the port town located potamu and popular resort of Thassos - Skala Potamia with well-developed tourist infrastructure and beautiful beach area. There is also the famous "Golden Beach" - winner of the honorary "blue flag" of UNESCO.
