Port Gate - the city gates in Szczecin, built in Baroque style in the years 1725-1727 under the project of architect Gerhard Dutch Cornelius van Vallrave. It is one of two gates (along with King's Gate), which survived to this day as part of a Prussian fortress.
The outer facade of the gate is decorated with sculptural panorama of Szczecin and the image of the god of the Odra River, made by French sculptor Bartolomeo Damartom. Below is a shield with the monogram of Prussian King Friedrich Wilhelm I, over which there is a gilded inscription in Latin. This message informs the king on the Rights of Brandenburg, Pomerania and Szczecin, which Friedrich Wilhelm in 1719 bought the Swedes two million thalers. Port Gate crowned oval shield with the arms of Prussia, and the royal crown.
From 1902 to 1932 near the gate has been installed in the neo-baroque fountain with a statue of the goddess Amphitrite sculptor Reinhold Felderhoffa.
During the Second World War to protect the Port Gate from the devastation, the entire decor was dismantled and hidden in the woods Arkona. Themselves gates on all sides have been planted with ivy. The trees were a good disguise, so Port Gate were destroyed. All the furniture has been returned to the front gate in 1957.
Currently, the Port Gate operates an art supply store.
