Pöllau - Austrian town, located in the federal state of Styria, part of the county Hartberg. Located about 55 km north-east of Graz.

Pöllau was documented in 1153. The town's name is translated from German means "field, the broad valley." Convenient location at the crossroads of two Pöllau trade routes has transformed it into a shopping center. In the 13th century the village was greatly expanded. After the death of the owner of the castle and lands Pöllau Hans von Newburgh in 1482, the earth moved Augustinian monks.

In 1677, Michael Joseph Meister launched a global upgrade Pöllau. It was built in the barn and the house of Meira, has undergone a change and the main square of the city. The reconstruction was completed only in 1779, after the death of Michael Meister.

City, meanwhile, flourished economically. It turned into a major shopping area. The plans for the development of the city was part of the idea for the construction of the railroad to bring Pöllau planned branch Feystrittsban, however, because of the two world wars, these plans never materialized. The main attractions Pöllau include former Augustinian abbey and the huge Baroque church of St. Vitus. The church was built in the early 18th century by the architect from Graz Joachim Carlone. The interior of the church is decorated with frescoes from the optical illusion of volume by Matthias von Gёrtsa depicting saints and the 12 apostles, and the way the work zaaltarnym Joseph A. Mёlka. 6 km from Pöllau is the Gothic Church of Mary Lebing 14th century with frescoes by Joseph A.Mёlka brush and statues of the Virgin Mary 15th and 17th centuries.
