Iskretsky Monastery of the Assumption is located in the western part of the Balkan Mountains, about 2 km east of the village Iskrets. The monastery was founded in the XIII century, but a century later, in the years of Ottoman rule, it was destroyed by the Turks. Around the XVII century building was restored and was used first as a chapel, and only later - in 1834 - again as a monastic cloister. Currently, he is not an active monastery.

From buildings that were part of the monastery complex, it has survived the building of the Church of the Assumption. It is a one-nave basilica with a semi-cylindrical beskupolnuyu apse. The walls are reinforced by buttresses, laid out from large stones. The main part of the church, which has a length and width of 8, 7 and 5 meters respectively, was built in the early XVII century (1602). In 1846 it was attached to the porch of 10 x 7, 4 meters. The church is devoid of any external decorations, but inside you can see the frescoes dating back to XVII and XIX centuries, three different images of Christ. In the apse are the image of the Virgin and the scene of "Day of the Holy Trinity." In the vestibule of the paintings of "The Apocalypse," "Revelation." A number of frescoes ("The Parable of the Publican and the Pharisee" and others.) Adorns the walls of the porch.

Next to the church is a small stone building heptagonal - confessional. It was built in 1856 and is the only one of its kind. Inside, the walls are painted the confessional.

Another surviving building - two-storey building is intended for housing, with a massive stone plinth and a small attic. The building was built in the XIX century.
