Basilica del Osservanza - Catholic Church, located on the outskirts of Siena, on a hill Colle della Capryol. It was built around 1490, probably by the architect Francesco di Giorgio and expanded in 1495-1496 years on the initiative of the local ruler Pandolfo Petrucci, who wanted to rebuild a new crypt, build and increase the family crypt adjacent monastery. Today it is the most important Sienese church, located outside of the city - this is where once stayed the St. Bernardin, the Italian priest of the 15th century, the patron of communication.

Erected in the style of the Renaissance, religious buildings severely damaged during the notorious siege of Siena in 1554, and was later reconstructed in the Baroque style, with its splendor and abundance of details .  In the years 1922-1932 the church were carried out restoration work, which is also slightly changed its original appearance .  But after only ten years old, at the height of World War II, the building was almost completely destroyed by an air raid on Siena committed by US forces in January 1944 .  Immediately after the war, started an ambitious project to restore the ancient temple: with the help of preserved photographs and a variety of documentary evidence provided by the surviving monks of the Monastery of the neighbor, managed to reconstruct the basilica and return it to its former glory .  Today the Basilica del Osservanza, whose name can be translated as Temple of Reverence, is one of the largest religious buildings of Siena and the interesting tourist attraction .
