Photo: Festival Complex
At the foot of the mountain Menhsberg in the early XVII century palace stables were built, and a little later - the building of a riding school. In 1917 in Salzburg we decided to pursue theater and opera festivals, so the buildings were rebuilt by architect Clemens Goltsmaysterom and helped him painter Oskar Kokoschka.
The original form is preserved facade of the former stables and the western portal of the building Riding School. Festival complex partially embedded deep into the rock, which frees up more space for spectators. For example, the auditorium of the Bolshoi Theater is designed for 2400 spectators.
