The Cathedral of the Annunciation was built on the grave of the Rev. St. Nicander, who was the first abbot Nikandrova desert. The church was built in the active work of Abbot Isaiah with the blessing of Metropolitan of Novgorod Alexander in the late 16th century.

In 1673 the Church of Annunciation and other monastic buildings were burned, and the place of the pre-existing church was built a new church of the Annunciation, only this time from stone.
