Amazing building on one of the main avenues of the Czech capital - the National trzhida - immediately attracts attention with its dissimilarity to other buildings of baroque Prague. The building, which resembles a dark glass cube is one of the most famous theaters in Prague «Laterna magika».

The room was built specifically for the theater and not rented a ready-made building. In the middle of the last century the government and intellectuals of Prague reflect on what you can take territory in the neighborhood of the National Theatre. Construct a regular supermarket - it means to violate the very atmosphere of elegance and charm that reigns around cultural institutions. Erect a hotel - also not an option. In the end, the decision came naturally: in 1977 began construction of a new theater, which was to become the cultural center of the city. It took an ambitious architect Karel Prager. His task was to create a space with a perfect sound insulation that has been achieved by building the interior trim panels of Cuban marble.

The name of the theater by chance. It was chosen for the title of a very popular in the 1950s, the play, which had full houses. Presentation of "Laterna Magica", which translates as "The Magic Lantern", was innovative, unusual and daring for the time.

Nowadays theater "Laterna Magica" is part of the National Theatre. His ideas - a strange mixture of the remarkable work of actors, the scenery magnificent, magnificent, rich costumes, amazing choreography, thoughtful dialogue and unusual plot twists.
