Monument dedicated to Alexander Pushkin, in Podgorica could be called a symbol of the relationship of two congenial Slavic peoples. Since ancient times known about the friendship between Russia and Montenegro, what makes a memorable song, dedicated to the great Russian poet, especially for the both countries. This monument is not only decorates Podgorica, but also establishes the historical and cultural relations between Montenegro and Russia.
We know that Peter II Njegos during the life of the writer Pushkin named it as "the great poet of the people happy", he, after the death of the creator, the Montenegrin ruler dedicated the poem "dust of Alexander Pushkin."
The architect of the monument to Pushkin - M. Corsi. Sculptor Alexander Taratynov, do the job, is also the author of the memorable compositions dedicated to another famous Russian poet - Vladimir Vysotsky. Construction of the monument was funded by the Moscow government.
Solemn opening of the monument took place in 2002. Compositionally, it is a not only of Pushkin and his wife Natalya Goncharova, who sits on the bench and presumably enjoying the poems that she read Alexander. Maybe she just listens to the same poem - "Bonaparte and Montenegrins", an excerpt from which is carved on a stone slab near the sculpture:
