Vault family Volumnia - Etruscan tomb, located on the outskirts of Ponte San Giovanni, the south-eastern suburbs of Perugia. The exact date of its creation is not known, but crypt made to date 3rd century BC

This Roman Etruscan tomb is part of a large necropolis Palatstsone (6-5 century BC . e . ), Consisting of 38 underground crypts and graves, knocked into the rock, as well as from the collection of urns and other funeral items .  To get to the crypt Volumnia - the most famous of all, can be a steep staircase that leads up to several meters deep into the earth to the gate .  Behind the gate is the lobby, which is decorated ceilings and which in turn leads to the four small side chambers and the three larger central .  To the right of the front door is an Etruscan inscription, consisting of three vertical lines .  That it gives reason to believe that in the crypt remains of family Volumnia - a noble Roman family .  In a huge hall with a gable roof are three small cameras, dumping a kubikuly and Tablinum - a room in the back of .  In the last five urns kept - one of five marble and white limestone .  The oldest and most significant urn crowned the image of the dead man lying on triclinium contains dust Arunta Volumnia, head of the family .  At the bottom of the urn carved with images of two immortal gods with wings that guard the gates of Paradise .  Crypt Volumnia used for other purposes until the 1st century BC . e .
