Perast is located a few kilometers north-west from Kotor. It is a city with an ancient and fascinating history. The first written records date back to 1326 Perast year. It is believed that the first inhabitants of the city were pirates.

Since 1420 Perast was dominated by the Venetians, whose reign lasted until the collapse of the Venetian Republic in 1797. Over the centuries, the town board of the republic was built up churches, palaces, fortifications. Also, the active development of local seafaring received.

After the collapse of the republic, the rule of Perast invader passed from one to another, but in 1918 the city was included in the State of Serbia, Croatia and Slovenia. Modern Perast belongs to Montenegro.

A feature of the city is the fact that despite its coastal location, Perast hardly touched the earthquake - all architectural structures built in the time of XV-XVIII centuries, perfectly preserved to this day.

Among the many ancient churches apart is the church of St. Nicholas, located in the eponymous square. The church was build in 1616. Outwardly modest façade conceals a majestic and magnificent interior decoration. Wooden ceiling, a Baroque carved altars made of marble, as well as painting artist Tripo Kokolja.

Near the church of St. Nicholas, you can see the 55-meter bell tower, built in 1691. Until now, it is crowned by the bells that were brought in 1730 from Venice.
