Limeni - pretty little town on the southern coast of the Peloponnese (Mani Peninsula, Lakonia prefecture). It is situated on the shores of the Gulf about 75 km south of Sparta and only a few kilometers from Areopolis, the port which he actually is.

Limeni - incredibly picturesque village with lovely old stone houses, towers, literally hanging over the rocky cliffs, picturesque harbor, where in the summer a lot of snow-white yachts moored, excellent restaurants and taverns with excellent cuisine. Limeni is the hometown of one of the most influential clans maniots - Mavromichalis, who played a key role in the formation of the modern Greek state. On the initiative of local authorities Mavromichali ancestral castle, which, in essence, is an important historical and architectural monument, was restored almost in the same form as it was 200 years ago. Today, its walls is an excellent hotel.

Local attractions are the ancient caves where people lived in the Neolithic period, and during the rule of the Ottoman Empire in the region of the so-called hidden Cleft (armed rebels who fought against Turkish oppression). Certainly worth a visit and the cradle of the Greek revolution - the famous Areopolis.
