Ethnographic Museum - this exhibition is part of the Regional Historical Museum in Pazardjik. The exhibition is located in one of the biggest urban buildings of the Renaissance, which was built in 1850 in Baroque style. The house belonged to a wealthy local merchant Nikola Khristovich. Currently the building is architectural and artistic monument of culture of national significance.
Ethnographic exhibition was opened to visitors in 1974 . The exhibition, which tells about the rich spiritual and material culture of the population of Pazardzhik until the mid XX century, is located in 18 rooms . On the ground floor of the museum presents the architectural features of homes and public buildings . Visitors can see photos and layouts of homes from different localities of the region . At the center of the room is a large map of the area of Pazardzhik . In the three other rooms you can see samples of the interior typical rural houses and equipment used for the processing of cotton, flax, hemp and wool - training specific to this area . The central place is given to the home loom . The museum also recreated workshop for the manufacture of footwear period of the early XX century . On display are tools used by the master cobbler . In other areas of the complex are sewing workshop and fur atelier .
On the second floor of the museum visitors can see the living room and the typical representatives of urban residents. All items and things of the here - the original, once belonging to the residents of Pazardzhik. In another room recreates the atmosphere of life of a wealthy family, the emphasis here is on items imported from abroad: plush blankets, crystal mirror, and others. Of interest is a reproduction of the portrait master of the house H. Christ (the original written by the famous Bulgarian artist Stanislav Dospevski). The museum's collection includes samples of national clothing and accessories: expensive bracelets, rings, earrings, belt buckles, and so on with. D.
About folk customs and festivals tell photographs, written sources and various household items. The exhibition, devoted to folklore, can be seen musical instruments, typical for the region of Pazardzhik, and much more.
